Jean lab conclusion
In this lab we asked the question what concentration of bleach is the best to color a jean piece into a lighter color in a time of 10 minutes without any damage done to the jean piece. We found that the best concentration to bleach the fabric was the 50% of bleach. The 100% bleach was the one that bleached it the most but that one made the most visible damage to the fabric. The data for the 100% damage was a range of 3,1, and 2, and the 50% only got 1,2, and 0. So our data shows that the 50% made the best fade without and damage to the fabric. The color removal of the denim jeans in 100% bleach was almost all color. This data support our claim because we said that the bleach would remove the most color but give the most damage, and that the 50 % would work best and that is what we thought.
While our data was supported by our data that 50% did the best, but there could have been error due to that we read the directions wrong and instead of letting the fabric pieces soak in the bleach for 1 minute and then let it soak for 9 minutes on paper we didnt let the fabric soak for 9 minutes we directly put it in water. After we figured out we did wrong we had to start over the whole lab. This set us back by almost 10 minutes so we rushed through a lot of the lab. And while the 2 of my lab partners started refilling the bleach and starting to bleach, me and Alyssa had to cut 3 new squares. Due to this we had some mistakes and end later than everyone else. In future experiments i would recommend to read the directions carefully. Or else you will probably get wrong result or lose time.
This lab was done to demonstrate how different concentration of solutions can effect something dramatically in different ways and how to read directions to get the best results . From this lab i learned that even if you make a mistake you can still succeed doing the lab and getting result you want which helps me understand the concept of doing labs and how its really important to read and listen to directions. Based on my experience from this lab i could apply this to real life problems if you don't succeed first just try again and you will eventually.
